KUANTAN: The Gurdwara Sahib Kuantan (GSK) has a new addition, a lift to offer easy access to the elderly and the disabled.
Its management committee president Datuk Dr Dharshan Singh said the lift cost RM93,000 to instal and this has put GSK among the number of gurdwaras nationwide with lifts.
Retired Lembaga Letrik Negara wireman Sohan Singh, 76, who was wheelchair bound after his lower leg was amputated, said he could now reach the main hall (Darbar Sahib) with ease.
On another matter, Dr Dharshan said the committee would soon decide on the fate of a 0.3ha plot of land owned by the gurdwara in the town centre.
He said the options were either to sell it to the highest bidder, develop it into a commercial property or use it to build a community hall for the Sikh community.
The land was donated to the gurdwara some four decades ago.
