PAGODA Foods (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is all out to promote a healthy lifestyle by showing support for the upcoming Ipoh Starwalk 2016.

An loyal supporter of the walk organised by the Star Media Group for more than 10 years now, the company will be sharing 15,000 packs of its Pagoda Honey Sunflower Kernels with participants of the May 22 event.

Pagoda Foods CEO Liew Yu-Gene said the nutritious snacks, which were launched last year, are worth a total of RM9,000.

“Everyone loves snacks and what better choice than munching on nutritious and healthy kernels. On their own, sunflower seeds are already very nutritious but when coated with honey, it’s double the nutrition.

“We believe in providing the right choice of snacks so that participants of the walk need not sacrifice their healthy lifestyle.

“We encourage everyone, regardless of whether they are young or old to be health conscious,” Liew said after presenting the products to The Star’s representative Tan Cheak Tong.

According to Liew, all products by Pagoda Foods, a home-grown Perak brand established in 1945, do not contain any artificial colourings or preservatives.

Originally a producer of groundnut products, Liew said Pagoda Foods had in the last few years ventured into the production of other nut products including cashew nuts, pistachios and almonds.

“Right now, we have about 20 different products in the market and there are plans to come up with more,” he added.

The Ipoh Starwalk 2016 will be flagged off at the Perak Turf Club on Jalan Raja DiHilir, Ipoh, at 7am on May 22.

The event is being organised by Star Media Group Bhd in collaboration with Ipoh City Council, Perak Education Department and Perak Athletic Association.

The platinum sponsor for the walk is telecommunications company YES while the silver sponsors are F&N, Federal Oats and the Julie’s biscuit brand.

Weil Hotel is the official hotel for the event while Perak Turf Club is the official venue sponsor.

The entry fee is RM13 per person, inclusive of GST.

The public can sign up at The Star’s Ipoh office at No. 8-10, Lorong Chung Thye Phin, from 9am to 5pm (Monday to Saturday, except public holidays).
