COMIC book lovers can look forward to up-close-and-personal encounters with their favourite comic artists, take part in forums and get a two-day unlimited access to the comic museum during the grand opening of the Asia Comics Cultural Museum (ACCM) on Level 2 of ICT Mall in Komtar, Penang.
Malaysian Mandarin Comics Society president Roy Chan said the public were invited to take part in the grand opening on May 28 and 29.
Limited edition T-shirts and sketch books will be given away.
“We have invited renowned comic artists Tony Wong and Ma Wing-shing, and they will hold a forum session with the fans on the first day of the grand opening, from 2.30pm to 4pm.
“Fans of local comic artist Zunar, Ujang and Indonesian comic artist Sunny Gho are sure to be delighted to meet their idols at the forum, from 4.30pm to 6pm on the same day,” Chan said during a recent press conference.
Also present at the press conference were museum manager Chiong Yoke Kong, Hong Kong comic artist Jerry Cho and Penang Youth Development Corporation chief executive officer Teng Kok Liang.
Chan said two other forums were scheduled to be held at the museum on May 29.
“The forums are to be attended by Guangdong China Art Association comic art committee member Prof Zhu Song Qing, Malaysia senior comic artist Shi Sheng Ti, Taiwan Anime Comic Association chairman Shu Wei Xi and famous Singaporean comic artist Travis Low.
“Seats are limited to only 120 participants,” Chan said.
He added that Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng would launch the museum during the opening ceremony at 11am on May 28.
“We have also invited several consuls from various countries to take part in the ceremony,” he said.
Tickets to the grand opening are priced at RM70 per person.
Closing date is May 15.
