Developer launches platform to help female employees realise their full potential

Eco World Development Group Berhad employees at the launch of Professional Women’s Network in conjunction with International Women’s Day.

ECO World Development Group Berhad’s quick rise in the property development industry would not have been possible without the dedication and talent of its female employees, said chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin.

To empower and help them realise their full potential on the professional front, Eco World launched its Professional Women’s Network (PWN) initiative in conjunction with International Women’s Day.

“The industry is often perceived to be male-dominated, but nowadays, more and more women have risen to positions of power.

“In Eco World, 50% of management positions are held by women, especially in the fields of sales, marketing, customer care, finance, talent management, audit and IT,” said Liew.

Besides empowering them in their work life, the initiative is also aimed at helping female employees achieve a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

“Women are as important as men, and we know it can be challenging for mothers to juggle their responsibilities at work and at home. So, we want to look after their welfare too.

“For instance, we have a sick room for their children so that they can care for them while at work,” Liew said, adding this was also to encourage women to stay in the workforce.

Eco World Development Group Talent Management Divisional general manager Angelin Low said PWN is a platform to acknowledge women’s achievements and create avenues for their success.

“We strongly believe there can be a healthy balance of life and work. Careers need not take a back seat when women start a family and vice versa,” she said.

The initiative features a series of structured learning events, programmes and talks by powerful women leaders to inspire its female employees.

The full day event also featured activities such as a panel discussion on significant issues relating to women in the workforce, a book sharing session “Lean In” led by Low, a Health, Work and Life Integration Workshop, a professional beauty consultation and a movie screening.

PWN is one of the many Eco World initiatives that were established to ensure the workplace is conducive and enjoyable for all employees.

Eco World was named one of Malaysia’s best employers at the Aon Hewitt Best Employers Malaysia Awards 2015, and has about 1,000 employees, out of which 45% are women.
