MALACCA: A bevy of beauties will be converging in Malacca for the finals of Miss Tourism World pageant in January 2016.
The internationally famed event is being held for the first time in the country and Malacca has been selected as the venue by the organiser – Tourism World Organisation.
The event's local partner Kerjaya Prospek's Group chief executive officer, Datuk Tee Eng Ho, lobbied for the pageant to be held in Malacca earlier this year and luck was on his side when the United Kingdom based organiser cited “unforeseen circumstances” and changed the initial plan to hold the event in Bangkok to Malacca.
“It’s a great honour for Malacca and I am really elated over having succeeded in bringing this globally esteemed event to my hometown,” he said, adding that the event will be held at the Swiss Garden Hotel here.
The pageant, that is in its tenth year, will have contestants from 50 countries competing for the crown.
