JALAN Pantai Jerjak in Bayan Lepas, Penang, has been turned into a one-way street starting from the Petron station until the end of the road.
The road is parallel to Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, opposite the Pesta site in Sungai Nibong.
Infrastructure and Traffic Committee alternate chairman Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik, when contacted, said the move was made due to a request by the area’s Village Community Security and Development Committee.
“The road is busy and has become a commercial stretch more than a residential one. Often, there are cars park by the road.”
Penang Island City Council traffic engineer Zainuddin Mohamad Shariff said the move would most likely be permanent but the council would gather feedback from residents for three months starting from Saturday.
