THE public can now feast their eyes on Penang’s award-winning flotilla at the Karpal Singh Drive in George Town.
Decorated with vibrant colours following the ‘Endless Celebrations’ theme, the flotilla showcases a few of the many festivals and celebrations held in the state this year.
Clinching two awards for Most Popular and Most Creative Flotilla at the Flotilla Competition ‘Magic of the Night 2015’ event in Putrajaya on May 28, it will be on display daily from 7pm to midnight.
The competition received participation from 13 states, the Tourism and Culture Ministry, the Putrajaya local council, as well as from Suzhou, China.
A total of four awards (Overall Best Flotilla, Most Creative Flotilla, Best Lighted Flotilla, and Most Popular Flotilla) were handed to thewinning participants.
Penang Island City Council Corporate Department director Mohamed Akhbar Mustapha said it took two months and RM200,000 to construct the flotilla in Putrajaya.
“We plan to put it on display till the end of the year,” he said during the flotilla’s soft launch in Karpal Singh Drive recently.
He added there would be an official launching of the flotilla by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng on July 29 at 8pm.
