Bukit Nanas cable car service may return

The cable car service at Bukit Nanas was discontinued in 1980s.

THE cable car service at Taman Eko Rimba Kuala Lumpur may make a come back.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall is looking into this possibility as part of the city tourists’ attraction.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said they are making a feasibility study in restoring the service.

“The park, which was known as Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve before 2009, was a unique feature in Kuala Lumpur and country. It is the only city in the world with a forest reserve.

“The cable car ride up the hill will give tourists a bird’s eye view of the place and enable them to appreciate the greenery in the city centre,” he said after announcing the completion of slope rectification work at the foothill along Jalan Ampang and Jalan Bukit Nanas on Friday.

The cable car service at Bukit Nanas was discontinued in 1980s.

In August 2012, the forest was closed to the public while the cable car was rebuilt. However, the cable car service was never restored to date.
