LONDON: Comcast Corp topped Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox Inc with a knockout bid for Sky Plc, putting the US cable giant on track to acquire Europe’s largest satellite broadcaster in a deal that would redraw battle lines of the global media industry.

In an unusual auction overseen by UK regulators, Comcast bid 10% more than Fox on Saturday, all but ensuring that it will win control of London-based Sky.
