Ahmad Nizam new Petronas chairman, Wan Zulkiflee remains president

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Ahmad Nizam Salleh has been appointed as chairman of the Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) board with immediate effect on Wednesday. 

The Prime Minister’s Office announced Ahmad Nizam has been working in the oil and gas industry for 37 years, and had served Petronas in several positions for most of his career. 

He takes over from Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan who completed his tenure as chairman on June 30, following the fulfilment of his extended three-year contract beginning July 1, 2015. 

As for Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, he remains the president and group chief executive officer.
