Alipay accepted at 500 outlets

PETALING JAYA: Payment solutions provider GHL Systems Bhd is enabling more than 100 merchants in Malaysia to accept Alipay as a payment option.

Alipay will be accepted across 500 outlets owned by these merchants including KK Super Mart, myNEWS.com, Orange Convenient Stores, Crocs, Leather Avenue and Wah Lee Electrical.

GHL Systems expects at least 1,000 locations to accept Alipay by the third quarter of this year, as more merchants, chain stores, restaurants, hotels and other business establishments get on board.

In a statement yesterday, Alipay Malaysia country head Greta Gunawan noted that the Alipay payment option would help boost spending by Chinese tourists at the merchants who accept Alipay, and better connect these merchants to the Chinese customers.
