SC appoints two executive directors


KUALA LUMPUR: The Securities Commission (SC) has appointed Kamarudin Hashim (pic) and Chin Wei Min as executive directors effective from April 4, 2016.

Kamarudin has been with the SC since 1993 and is experienced in various areas including derivatives, bonds, fund management, Islamic capital markets and supervision. 

He previously also served as secretary to the Commission and was seconded to Citibank Bhd where he was involved in bonds and sukuk transactions while supporting regional Islamic finance business of the bank. 

Prior to the SC, Kamarudin was with Bank Negara after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Law from University of Kent, UK.

Meanwhile, Chin has more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector particularly in the innovation and digital segment. He was formerly the Asia Pacific managing director for the capital market industry at Accenture. 

Chin will lead SC’s newly-set up innovation and digital strategy department and also oversee the data management, strategy and risk departments. 

He is a certified financial planner, and holds a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering degree from University of Salford, UK.
