Malaysia Airlines plans to sell aircraft

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines Bhd has announced plans to sell its B777-200 aircraft following the cancellation of its Amsterdam and Paris routes later this month, reports said.

The pilots of the aircraft have been offered a mutual separation scheme on a “case-by-case basis”, with 40% of them having requested for the separation plan.

According to the report by Bloomberg, the scheme was voluntary and none of the pilots was asked to leave.

Malaysia Airlines, which will be partnering with Emirates for its European routes following the move, has previously conducted a secondment exercise for its pilots to other airlines.

The secondment exercise was to cater to the company being a smaller entity than the previous Malaysia Airlines.
