KUALA LUMPUR: Khazanah Nasional Bhd has appointed Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah to its board of directors.
The Government’s strategic investment arm said in a statement that Irwan was currently secretary general of Treasury.
His career in the civil service began in 1984 when he joined the Malaysian Administrative and Diplomatic Service as assistant director (regional economics division) in the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister’s Department.
He served in various positions in EPU before joining the Finance Ministry in 2003 as principal assistant secretary (economic and international division). On Aug 24, 2012, he was appointed as secretary general of Treasury.
Irwan serves on the board of several key organisations including Petroliam Nasional Bhd, Lembaga Tabung Haji, Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd, and Bank Negara. He is also chairman of Retirement Fund (Incorporated) (KWAP), Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia, Cyberview Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC).
Irwan holds a PhD in Economics from International Islamic University Malaysia, a Master of Science in Energy Management and Policy from University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Population Studies from University of Malaya.
