According to security company Symantec, targeted attacks — in which attackers use social engineering and social networking sites to trick specific company employees into into clicking through to malicious sites — has risen by some 42%.
These attacks are sophisticated in that they take advantage of information of each company’s activities online, and then use that information to create a legitimate-looking site or e-mail but which actually leads to a malware site.
