KUALA LUMPUR: Fifth seed Pablo Cuevas kept his cool to stave off a late surge from veteran Jurgen Melzer and check into the second round of the Malaysian Open ATP 250 at the Putra Stadium.
The Uruguayan world No. 37, who is enjoying his best career run this year, having won two titles already – the Swedish and Croatia Opens, saw off the 33-year-old Melzer 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) in one hour and 41 minutes on Monday.
