Worker who allegedly killed brother to help cops in probe

KUALA LANGAT: The factory worker who allegedly killed his older brother after being accused of not fasting will be held in police custody until Wednesday.

The 26-year-old man was arrested last week over the murder of his 32-year-old brother in their house on Jalan Orkid, Batu 8 Sijangkang, Telok Panglima Garang here.

Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Zailan Tasir said an argument broke out between the two brothers at about 6pm after the victim accused the suspect of not fasting.

The situation escalated after the older brother became aggressive and took out a long metal rod from the kitchen. The suspect took a knife. Supt Zailan said the victim was seriously injured after the younger brother slashed his neck during the fight.

“Noticing blood oozing from the left side of his brother’s neck, the suspect stopped attacking him.

“The victim’s friend drove him to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR) for treatment, but he died on the way,” he explained.

Supt Zailan said police considered the case closed following the arrest of the factory worker on June 24.

“The suspect was not under the influence of drugs during the incident, nor was he mentally ill.

“We believe that it was his hot temper that led to the attack. He told us he had been fasting since 5am that day,” he added.

Police will submit the investigation papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) for the next course of action.
