PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP) is one of the highest in the region, despite the unstable global economic climate, said Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak (pic).
He said, in his annual National Transformation Programme report Tuesday night, that the GDP growth of 6% in 2014 even exceeded the 5.7% growth by projected by the World Bank.
"This is coupled with the World Bank increasing Malaysia's standing the Ease of Doing Business Index from 20th to 18th.
"Malaysia has also been elevated to 12th from 15th in the Institute for Management Development's (IMD) World Competitiveness Yearbook 2014," he said.
Najib said this was achieved despite a challenging year filled with various tragedies.
"However, I guarantee that the Government is committed in building a safe and prosperous Malaysia," he added.
