Opposition leaders speak out against UiTM’s private funding initiative

PETALING JAYA: DAP’s Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud and PKR’s Seberang Jaya assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin have spoken out against Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM)’s Private Funding Initiative (PFI) which will see the building and maintenance of 10 new campuses by the private sector.

The issue of PFIs came under public scrutiny after it was disclosed by Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli in a series of press conferences in parliament last week that concessions for the projects were given to figures closely associated with Umno.
