Gruesome task: Police officers carrying Tan's body out of the slaughterhouse in Nibong Tebal, Penang.
NIBONG TEBAL: A chicken meat supplier was found dead in a slaughterhouse, believed to have been murdered by his foreign worker.
Tan Chye Sian (pic), 41, was found lying in a pool of blood inside the chicken processing room at the slaughterhouse in Jalan Changkat by his brother at about 10am yesterday.
Penang CID chief Senior Asst Comm Mazlan Kesah said the brother had rushed over to the slaughterhouse after Tan failed to answer his calls.
He said initial investigation showed that Tan could have been murdered by the worker due to a misunderstanding.
“We have ruled out robbery as a motive,” SAC Mazlan told reporters at the crime scene.
Tan, said SAC Mazlan, was believed to have died from serious head injuries after he was beaten up with a steel pipe recovered from the crime scene. The worker has since gone into hiding.
SAC Mazlan urged those with information to contact the nearest police station.
