KUALA LUMPUR: The iconic fleur-de-lis will be featured on 750,000 special stamps to be issued by Pos Malaysia to commemorate the opening of the World Scout Bureau office here.
The stamps – which go on sale today – come in denominations of 30 sen, 50 sen and 60 sen.
There will also be 40,000 first day covers complete with stamp sets for sale at RM1.90 each.
The fleur-de-lis, also known as the stylised lily, is a staple of the Scouts and forms part of the logo for many scouting organisations.
Global director of scouting development for the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) Goran Hagerdal said it was part of its tradition to keep close ties with post offices.
“The stamps are beautiful and allow you to keep in contact with people worldwide – a core value taught by the Scouts,” he said.
