Nik Nazmi’s missing nephew found

PETALING JAYA: Special needs teenager Ammar Muzakkir has been found in Putrajaya after going missing since 4pm Thursday.

His father, Mohammad Khuzaini Ismail, said the 14-year-old turned up in front of his sister's house in Precinct 11, Putrajaya at 7.15pm on Friday.

He was last seen taking the LRT from Gombak.

Although he was extremely hungry and tired, the boy was unharmed.

Ammar is the nephew of Selangor State Assembly deputy speaker Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

His mother, Nik Nazli Nik Ahmad, said they were still unsure how Ammar travelled almost 50km away as he told his parents many different versions of the story.

"The consistent words were KL Sentral and Datuk Keramat. He had asked people for help to get onto the LRT, a request some obliged and others did not," she said.

Ammar had first turned up at her sister-in law's house in Putrajaya at 10am, before appearing again at 5pm.

The boy had asked his aunt's neighbour for food and requested use of the toilet since his aunt's house was locked.

"Initially, the neighbour was reluctant to let him in. However, her daughter had seen the news about his disappearance which had spread online, and asked her mother if it was the same boy," said Nik Nazli.

"Once they verified it was him, she contacted me and I informed my sister-in-law, who then took him into the house," she said.

According to Ammar's brother, Amad Khales Mohd Khuzaini, the boy was not allowed to leave the neighbour's house despite asking for some money to go home, which prevented the 14-year-old from going "on anymore of his adventures".

The 22-year-old said that his brother has previously appeared at their aunts' houses after getting lost, as he "likes to visit their homes".

"Thank you for helping us to post these stories and helping us to find him," he added.

News of Ammar's disappearance was also tweeted by his uncle, Nik Nazmi, on Friday evening.
