PUTRAJAYA: The proposed Syariah police unit to be jointly formed by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and the Home Ministry is only to help the state religious authorities, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said the formation of the unit was not meant to take over the powers of state religious authorities.
