Woman on top: Yeoh talking about how she is ‘deeply touched’ about being featured in the exhibition.
KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh has been honoured at a photography exhibition dedicated to celebrate eight iconic women in the country.
Titled Malaysia’s League of Extraordinary Women, the series of photographs also feature Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Sultan Iskandar, Datuk Paduka Marina Mahathir, Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood, Datuk Sheila Majid, Datuk Tom Abang Saufi, Datuk Nicol David and Ling Tan.
Each woman was chosen based on the passion they possessed, and for the influence they have in their own respective fields transcending time and space.
Yeoh, whose acting accolades include powerhouse roles in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and most recently The Lady (2011), amongst others, was lauded for her acting talent.
For the exhibition, Yeoh was accorded the title “The Silver Screen Goddess”.
Her portrait was captured by renowned Hong Kong photographer Wing Shya and styled by international stylist Sean K.
When met at the launch of the exhibition yesterday, she said she was deeply touched to be included in the exhibition.
“I think it’s a great idea, especially so when it comes to honouring the women of the country.
“I just wished that the list could go on longer.”
She added: “To me, an extraordinary woman is someone who has done something special.
“When I say this, it is with regard to how much they’ve influenced others.”
Yeoh is currently busy with a new film.
She revealed that she is spending a good part of her visit to Malaysia with her family in Ipoh for the Chinese New Year, before flying off to Bangkok for filming.
The exhibition is presented by Louis Vuitton Malaysia and YTL Corporation Berhad and will run from now until Feb 28.
The exhibition is open to the public.
Located on the Indulge Floor of the Starhill Gallery, it is being held in conjunction with Louis Vuitton Malaysia’s recent Global Store opening in the city.
