Woman from India found stabbed to death, husband arrested

KUALA LUMPUR: A 27-year-old Indian man has been arrested after his wife, also an Indian national, was found with slash and stab wounds on her body in a beauty and bridal centre in Cheras.

The woman, 28, who worked and stayed at the centre in Jalan Jelawat 1 for the past six months was found sprawled in blood in a bath tub by her husband on Friday. She is believed to have died four days ago.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohan Singh said the woman was last seen by the husband at the bridal centre on the evening of Dec 30.

The man told police that he had gone out to buy things and when he returned he found himself locked out.

He went away and only returned to the unit at 7.45pm on Friday to collect some clothes. When he could not enter, he informed the centre's owner who came to unlock the door.

They went inside and saw the woman's body.

"We have detained the husband. We are investigating as to where the man went after failing to enter the premise," said ACP Mohan.

"There were discrepancies in his statements, which led us to believe that he might be the prime suspect in the case," he said.

He said a few weapons, believed to have been used to kill the woman, were recovered at the scene.
