WASHINGTON: U.S. researchers have detected the H1N1 virus, that created a worldwide pandemic in 2009, in elephant seals off the coast of central California for the first time, Xinhua news agency reported.
It is the first report of the flu strain (commonly known as swine flu) in marine mammals, researchers at the University of California, Davis reported in journal PLOS ONE.
