Malaysia wins four awards at AIFFA 2013


KUCHING: Malaysia won four awards at the Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) 2013 event held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCKK) here Saturday.

The four awards are for Best Screenplay (Dain Iskandar Said for Bunohan), Best Picture-Comedy (Istanbul Aku Datang), Best Picture-Action (Songlap) and Best Actor (Shaheizy Sam for Songlap).

The Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) 2013 is endorsed by the Sarawak Tourism Ministry and fully supported by the Information, Communications and Culture Ministry, Foreign Ministry (Asean-Malaysia National Secretariat) and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas).

Malaysian director U-wei Haji Saari was also given a Special Honour award, while Datuk Seri Michelle Yeoh was bestowed the AIFFA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Other winners include Indonesia's Riri Riza, who scooped Best Director for Atambua 39 Derajat Celcius, and Philippines starlet Alessandra De Rossi who was given Best Actress for her role in Sta Nina. - Bernama
