Gemstone seller charged with kidnapping boy

SHAH ALAM: A gemstone seller was charged in the Magistrate's Court Wednesday with abducting and wrongfully confining a nine-year-old son of a “Datuk” for a ransom of RM850,000, seven years ago.

K. Sangelee Thevan, 38, of Kulim, Kedah, was charged with two others still at large with committing the offence in Section 13 here at about 1.30 pm on March 4, 2005.
