Sate Kajang Haji Samuri is top choice

The infamous Haji Samuri Satay at its first stall in 'Medan Sate Kajang' has since sprouted numerous outlets around the Klang Valley and one in Negeri Sembilan. With strict health regulations, outsiders are not allowed to enter the kitchen area. The sticks of satay are made at the factory in Kajang for a standardised taste.

SATE Kajang Haji Samuri in Medan Sate Kajang along Jalan Sulaiman has clinched the title of The Star People’s Food Awards – Best Satay eatery in the Klang Valley.

The stall, which has been around since 1992, received 203 votes, beating nine other satay nominees to win the award via public nomination and voting on Metro Online Broadcast’s (MOB) website (www.mob.com.my).

The other satay outlets which garnered spots in the Top 10 list are Satay Kajang Haji Samuri in Damansara Uptown (168 votes), Zaini Satay in Ampang (143 votes), Nyok Lan Satay @ Restaurant Malaysia in Kajang (119 votes), Restaurant Satay Satay in 1 Utama (85 votes), Willy Satay at Ramal Food Junction in Kajang (79 votes), Satay Kajang Retro in Subang Jaya (73 votes), Salak South Best Satay (Peel Road) (55 votes), Devi’s Corner in Bangsar (46 votes) and Pondok Satay in Subang Jaya (43 votes).

The Star People’s Food Awards is a monthly contest that recognises the best street food in the Klang Valley.

Every month until May next year, the public can vote for the best category-based street food such as asam laksa (October) or nasi lemak (November) via www.mob.com.my

This month, visit MOB and vote for your favourite asam laksa stall in the Klang Valley.

Nominations are from Oct 1 to 10 and voting is open on Oct 15, ending at midnight on Oct 31.
