GIVING back to the community was the theme and driving factor behind Tropicana Golf and Country Resort’s (TGCR’s) 20th Anniversary Carnival.
The event was organised as a form of appreciation to residents, members and the public as well as contribute to several good causes.
The Million Bubble Show by Giant Bubble Putrajaya kicked off the carnival with much joy and excitement especially for the young ones with their simple yet captivating performance.
The bubbles that were created by a specially made tool were chased around and popped by the children to much joy and laughter.
Guests were also entertained with live music and a martial arts demonstration as well as lucky draws and quizzes throughout the day.
Darts, coconut bowling and mini golf were some of the games which added to the carnival atmosphere.
TGCR’s charity initiative included a jumble sale of member-donated items that will benefit the Cheshire Home Selangor.
SPCA Selangor was on board to promote the adoption of cats and dogs and educate the public on spaying. A lucky puppy named Barnaby found love and a new home with Aaron Wong Koon Yi and his family when they decided to take him home.
Aaron’s mother See Ai Ping brought her son to the carnival without knowing there would be an addition to their family that day.
“It felt like the right thing to do instead of buying an animal from a pet shop,’’ she said.
Semoa Bhd, a non-profit, non-governmental organisation in support of the orang asli community, offered clothes for sale with proceeds going towards the purchase of 20 more units through the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project.
Semoa directors Cheah Kim Hock and Rajen Velu explained that TGCR member YS Chua invited them so they could try to raise funds for their cause.
Artist Bay Chee Yen with the moniker Blue Cat Yard was present to sell her artwork, proceeds of which will be donated to charity.
It was Bay’s first time displaying her artwork in public and she took this as a chance to obtain feedback on her work and do good at the same time.
TGCR senior general manager Herman Tan and assistant manager for Events and Promotions Amy Tiang said it was proud to provide an avenue to exhibitors and the causes they stand for.
