KUANTAN: The setting up a research centre for rare earth development will be key to making Malaysia a main player in the industry, said academics.

Academy of Sciences Malaysia secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Zaidee Laidin said a new blueprint sought to develop all three stages of the industry: prospecting, processing and making products out of rare earth.
