New mayor vows council will strive to meet people’s expectations

Datuk Patahiyah Ismail receives her new appointment as the first woman mayor of Penang Island City Council with joy and awareness of the huge responsibility that comes with the post.

NEWLY sworn-in Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk Patahiyah Ismail said the council would strive to improve the quality of its services and management with emphasis on outcome-based administration.

Mindful that the elevation to city status was a long-awaited recognition which brought with it high expectations and greater challenges, Patahiyah said the council would work towards fulfilling the aspirations of taxpayers.
