New collection captures over-the-top sensuality and sentimentality of book covers.
When it comes to creative themes for makeup lines, MAC is never short on ideas. The latest proof is its “A Novel Romance” collection, inspired by the literary genre known for its sultry cover illustrations.
With its latest makeup collection, MAC has captured the over-the-top sensuality and sentimentality of the romance novel genre, even if the homage may be slightly tongue-in-cheek. While the colours of the nail polishes, eyeshadows and lipsticks are rich and deep, the campaign visuals are what really stand out about this new line.
The brand set about recreating the distinctive ambiance of romance novels in its new ads, complete with shirtless, long-haired hunks and evocative backdrops. And of course, MAC has given its new makeup items names to match the sultry theme, including Sex and the Oyster, Midnight Storm and Yield to Love.
Altogether, the new MAC line includes six new lipsticks (US$16), eight eyeshadow singles (US$16-$21), seven eyeliners (US$16), six nail polishes (US$12), five lip glosses (or Lip Glasses, as MAC calls them) (US$15), one mascara (US$22), two blushes (US$22) and three four-tone eyeshadow palettes (US$40). The bold and passionate colors in the new collection – blues, greens, purples, golds, and pinks ranging from pale peach to deep fuchsia – are perfect for heading into fall.
The collection will be available in MAC stores and online from Aug 21. – AFP Relaxnews
