Details of MRT2 project on public display tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Details of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit Line 2 (MRT2) project will start to go on public display from Friday.

The public can visit the SPAD office and 23 roadshow locations in the Klang Valley for information on the proposed MRT2, also known as the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP Line).

The display will run until August 17, 2015 for public inspection, which is part of the requirement of the Land Public Transport Act 2010.

Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar said the main purpose of the display is to provide a platform for the public to give feedback on the proposed alignment.

"The display will also educate the public on the project and serve as an avenue for them to provide feedback on the proposed alignment.

"I am hoping that Klang Valley residents, especially those living or working along the proposed alignment, will come out and have their say," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Project Director for the SSP Line, Amiruddin Maaris said all locations of display, will be advertised in major dailies.

"They cover fixed places as the SPAD and MRT Corp offices, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Selayang Municipal Council and Petaling Jaya City Council, with roadshows, primarily at shopping malls near the alignment," he told Bernama.

Amiruddin said the display aims to get as much feedback as possible from the public, for analysing and refining the scheme where deemed possible, before submitting the same to SPAD for final approval.

The tender for the MRT2 is expected by year-end and award by the first or second quarter of next year, with the Phase One opening (Kwasa Damansara to Kg Batu) by May 2021 and Phase Two (all the way to Putrajaya Sentral) by July 2022.- Bernama
