Oops, we've gone and done it again! We've made The Star Online better, just like you asked.
The product you're reading now is the result of 15 years of hard work, fun, and the occasional all-nighter; not to mention all the bouquets and brickbats handed to and hurled at us over the course of more than a decade. You spoke, we listened, and we hope you like what we've done with our little place.
Our last big revamp was in 2008, and now we've incorporated some changes which we hope will make the website even easier to navigate and more fun to use.
The Star Online is, now as always, the property of Star Publications (Malaysia) Berhad, which has been publishing The Star since 1971.
Our strengths as a newspaper have been the cornerstones of our Internet and new media ventures. Our content is now available on many platforms – from the print edition to this online edition (which includes RSS) to the e-paper (tablet) and and mobile devices.
You will notice that the site now uses more of the screen. This means we can put more stuff on the homepage so you have better access to stories, our many channels and multimedia offerings such as videos and podcasts, photos, blogs, and Internet broadcasts of radio stations under The Star group. Not only that, notice that our video contents are watchable on the same pages you find them.
And we also hope you'll find the more prominent Popular Topic and Breaking News, and more accurate search engine to your liking.
For readers on-the-go who want breaking news and business updates delivered to them, we have SMS services available via Maxis, Celcom and DiGi.
What all this means is that we're making it easier for you to access our information when and where you want it. And on top of that, we're giving you more.
The Star Online – we're more than a newspaper, a little less than a universe.
Oh yeah, the acknowledgements bit: The Star Online and its various components – mobile or otherwise – are produced, managed, developed, and contributed by the New Media Department well as The Star Online and Multimedia Newsdesk teams of The Star's Editorial Department.
