Italy’s Civita di Bagnoregio – a place of fantasies

One needs to travel a fair bit to reach this unique place, and also be mindful of the time to catch the last bus out.

CIVITA di Bagnoregio, located on the border of Umbria and Lazio regions in Italy, conjures images that only exist in the realms of our imagination. The first sight literally took my breath away. At a distance, the “castle in the sky”, as it is aptly called, looks like a carved rock sculpture of Michelangelo and equally as intriguing as his David masterpiece – sinewy lines cluster each abode, with the towering bell tower in arresting contrast.
