THERE are two kinds of rain in Japan during the month-long “rainy season” – that which never lets up, and that which seems to last forever.
On this particular day in late June, Cental Honshu’s Kiso Valley somehow manages to deliver both of these. As a result, the hiking trail between the centuries-old villages of Magome and Tsugamo is near-deserted.
