PETALING JAYA: Lazada has increased its commission rate for marketplace sellers, with affected product clusters seeing a rise of up to 22.5% in fees.

The change, which took effect last Saturday (Nov 1), is effective across five product clusters, including general merchandise (such as home decor, autonomotive, and stationery), fast-moving consumer goods (food and drink), fashion, electronics, and digital goods (vouchers, event ticketing, and gift cards).

It is worth noting that the rates can differ within each product cluster. For instance, audio equipment under the electronics cluster such as headphones are subject to a 13% rate, however, cameras and drones in the same cluster are only hit with a 12.5% rate.

For further information on the rate changes for individual categories and subcategories under each cluster, Lazada sellers can refer to the ecommerce platform's help centre FAQ page.

The company states in the FAQ page that the marketplace commission rate increase is intended to improve the user experience for both sellers and buyers, with access to artificial intelligence features and tools, improved delivery options, and greater exposure via free campaigns.

LazMall has also seen a similar change in commission rates, ranging up to a 1% increase across clusters. More details on the rates for specific LazMall categories and sub-categories are available on the Lazada help centre.
