Preview: ‘Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds’ offers twist to kart racing

Although Mario is the biggest name in kart racing, it’s not the only game in town. Plenty of other franchises have expanded into the family-friendly genre. Crash Bandicoot, Mickey Mouse, SpongeBob Bob and the “Family Guy” crew have all had some time behind the wheel, but the Sonic Racing series is the one that has seen the most success outside of the plumber.

Personally, I’ve never spent much time with the franchise. I wasn’t sure what it had to offer compared to Nintendo’s landmark series, but I jumped into a hands-on preview with Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and came away surprised by Sega’s fun approach to the genre.
