Samsung unveils AI-powered Neo QLED 8K TVs, priced from RM24,999

Samsung Electronics Malaysia president Denny Kim showed off the updated line of AI- powered Neo QLED8K TVs in Petaling Jaya — The Star

KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung Electronics launched its latest lineup of Neo QLED 8K TVs today (May 14), with artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features headlining the range.

The TV’s NQ8 AI Gen3 processor powers features such as 8K AI Upscaling Pro, which upscales low-resolution content, and AI Motion Enhancer Pro, which improves the clarity of fast-moving objects on screen, such as a ball during a sporting event.

The electronics giant claimed that its TVs can not only detect the type of sport but also the ball being used via deep learning to make visual improvements.

This AI integration crosses over to audio-related enhancements with Active Voice Amplifier Pro, which boosts voices and dialogue in shows.

The screens are also claimed to be 20% brighter than the last generation’s for the flagship model, with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz.

As with the predecessors, the Neo QLED 8K models run on Tizen OS, boasting features such as cloud gaming, an educational hub, and smart yoga – which can be enjoyed by connecting the TV to an AI-powered mat.

According to Samsung Malaysia Electronics president Denny Kim, the company has been investing in AI research for over a decade.

"Our 2024 screen lineup comes with on-device AI and intelligent integration across devices, allowing you to upscale your experience.

“To complement these exceptional AI viewing experiences, our latest sound devices also offer industry-first sound technologies to complement the stunning TV visuals,” he said.

The launch also included the Neo QLED and Neo OLED ranges, for a total of 10 new models.

The Neo 8K QN800D comes in two screen sizes, 75in (RM24,999) and 85in (RM32,999), as does the top-of-the-line Neo 8K QN900D, with the 75in model priced at RM30,999 and the 85in model at RM46,999.

Each purchase comes with goodies, including Touch n’ Go eWallet credits up to RM2,900 and the chance to win prizes worth a total of RM140,000.
