Artificial intelligence is permeating every aspect of our daily lives. Its influence is even extending into the world of dating. Indeed, some singles are using AI to optimise their profiles on dating apps, according to a recent American survey.

The results of a recent study conducted by Match and researchers from the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University (USA), reveal that more and more singles are using artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots to enhance their profiles on dating apps.

The survey found that 14% of dating app users report having used AI to boost their experience of online dating. Of these, 43% admit to having used AI to write their profile on dating apps, while 37% claim to have written their first message using AI.

According to Helen Fisher, a senior research fellow at the Kinsey Institute who served as a scientific advisor on the study, we are witnessing the start of a new trend: “Artificial intelligence is helping singles connect more effectively,” she explains in a news release.

“And that’s most likely just the beginning, because of the men and women who have used AI for online dating, 32% say that AI has helped them get better matches and meet potential partners faster.”

Conversely, other online daters prefer authenticity. Nearly 50% of singles would be against the idea of a potential match using AI to alter their image, and 39% would object to a potential partner using AI in all their conversations.

The survey, entitled “Singles in America”, involved a representative sample of 5,000 singles aged 18 to 77. The researchers asked them about their use of AI, and their opinions on AI in the dating world. – AFP Relaxnews
