PETALING JAYA: Yoodo has announced that its free 5G trial is ending on July 4.
Starting July 5, users who want to continue using 5G will have to purchase a 5G pass, currently priced at RM5 per month, as part of a promotion.
The pass, originally priced at RM10 per month, can be purchased through its app.
According to its terms and conditions, the promotion for the 5G pass is applicable to both new and existing users.
As the 5G pass uses data from the user's base plan, users are also required to subscribe to a high-speed data plan with 10GB of data or more.
It cannot be purchased separately as a "booster" and it’s not applicable to those on the unlimited data plan.
When Yoodo first rolled out its free 5G trial in February, it was only available to users with Android devices with 5G.
Since then, the company has announced that its 5G services are also available to users on iOS devices, specifically iPhone 12 or later with iOS 16.4.
On June 7, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that 5G network coverage in populated areas had reached 62.1% as of May 31.
Malaysia is aiming to achieve 80% 5G network coverage in populated areas by year's end.
