Seven reasons why the Huawei Mate40 series is an all-rounded smartphone

Huawei reached another milestone with the unveiling of its flagship Huawei Mate40 Series.

This newest addition to the Mate series has garnered attention from all over the world as the Huawei Mate40 Series is believed to be the next all-rounded smartphone in the market.

That aside, the series has always been an attention grabber – an example is the Huawei Mate30 Series, which practically sold out within a short period of time.

With the Huawei Mate40 Series officially debuted, what can we expect from the latest Mate Series in comparison with another recently launched smartphone?

1) Best performing chipset

There is no doubt that the chipset for any smartphone should be among – if not – the most important criteria a user looks for when selecting smartphones.

As the world’s second smartphone to incorporate the 5nm process chipset, Kirin 9000 proves to be of invaluable significance to the Huawei Mate40 Series.

Performance wise, the extremely compact 5 nm Kirin 9000 5G SoC is capable of multitasking, processing massive amounts of data, and powering instantly-responsive AI computing with ease.

2) Photography at its finest

The Huawei Mate Series is known for surprising users in its camera department – thanks to its powerful imaging system and technology, the Huawei Mate Series frequently clinches the top spot in any smartphone camera ranking. With the Huawei Mate40 Series, Huawei continues leaping further ahead, breaking records and setting new ones.

The main camera uses a custom IMX700 four-camera matrix design, which supports 10x optical zoom. If it wasn’t made known already, the Huawei Mate40 Pro has already won the lead on the DxO list.

If the camera – and in essence, photography – continues as a key criterion for a flagship smartphone, it goes without saying that the Huawei Mate40 Pro+ and Huawei Mate40 RS will continue reigning.

3) Best immersive experience

In 2019, smartphones equipped with a high refresh rate became a key factor for users when selecting smartphones.

Many brands have taken the step to ensure their latest smartphones come equipped with a high refresh rate to allow for a smoother user experience.

Smartphones without high refresh rates are usually cast aside without much consideration. While many are taking a step in that direction, the Apple iPhone 12 refresh rate was recently revealed to be just 60Hz.

Huawei, on the other hand, has been using high display refresh rates for quite some time, as high as 90Hz for its displays across all its smartphones, as well as being equipped with a 2K screen (except for the standard mode).

Additionally, Huawei also provides vibration feedback from the linear motor, leading to a more immersive experience.

Finally, it is also equipped with a dual stereo speaker that creates surround sound with super bass stereo.

With these latest innovations integrated in the Huawei Mate40 Series, users can enjoy a more immersive experience that stimulates their visual, auditory and touch senses.

4) 3D Face Reconstruction

In addition, Huawei also replaced the notch screen with a double shot on the front screen, so users need not worry about 3D facial recognition (2D for standard model).

This move also allows users to have a better and safer smartphone experience.

5) Product design: Different is usually better

Delivering a product known for its design is already half the success for any smartphone; one of the ways to constantly produce visually enticing smartphones starts at the very beginning – the design stage.

With so many smartphones being churned out from various brands, it’s a challenge to seek out a product that stands out from the rest.

But many brands opt to take the easy way out by following the flow, riding on the hype and choosing whichever design is most popular among users.

This, however, is not the case with the Huawei Mate Series, which is known for its unique design, of each series having its own backstory. Back in 2018, the Huawei Mate20 Series unveiled its four-point design and last year, the Huawei Mate30 Series debuted with a ‘space ring’ design.

This year, the Huawei Mate40 Series drew inspiration from the Event Horizon Telescope, a global network of synchronised radio observatories that work in unison to observe radio sources associated with black holes with angular resolution comparable to their event horizons.

In particular, this series’ ‘space ring’ design was derived from the first black hole in history to be captured via an astronomical image, Galaxy M87.

With the Porsche Design Huawei Mate40 RS, users go above and beyond with its octagon-shaped design, which complemented with a high-strength nano-tech ceramic material and brings the exhilarating thrill of motorsports to life. It takes the vintage black-and-white colour scheme to new heights.

In comparison, although Apple has made some new (or rather, retrograde) changes to its new iPhone 12 design, it pales in comparison with the Huawei Mate40 Series.

6) Quicker cable and wireless super charge

During the iPhone 12 unveiling, one of the more glaring details that many noticed was that it’s powered by a 2915mAh battery, coupled with only 20W of charging power.

Upon testing, it turned out that the iPhone 12 took approximately 100 minutes to be fully charged. Not only that, the battery life span is shorter as compared to previous iPhone models.

The 2915mAh battery is not enough to compensate for the phone’s usage, without turning on 5G. When this feature is switched on, the already short battery life pretty much becomes non-existent.

Thankfully, Huawei Mate40 Series users would not need to put up with charging setbacks. Although its phones may not be the best or fastest in supercharging, users note that there have been improvements with every series.

The recently launched Huawei Mate40 series supports 66W and its wireless charger supports 50W (standard edition supports 40W cable); the battery is 4400mAh (standard edition is 4200mAh), which not only solves the user from anxiety due to a draining battery life but also gives the satisfaction of charging a smartphone fully is just half an hour.

7) Interactive user experience

The latest innovation of EMUI 11 offers users an interactive experience that contains an improved AI Smart Gesture, Always on Display, Multi Screen collaboration and more.

The Huawei Mate40 Pro features all new smart gestures that allow users to fully engage with their smartphone.

With this latest interactive feature, users can simply light up or wake up their smartphone by hovering an open palm above the screen.

They can give a simple wave to the left, right, up or down to scroll the screen when accessing documents, photo gallery, music or any apps.

Another amazing feature is that users can easily answer incoming calls using a pressing gesture – perfect for picking up calls with grubby fingers.

With the new dynamic Eyes on Display, an advanced function of Always on Demand (AOD), featured on the Huawei Mate40 Pro, the users can activate a three-second animation using just their eyes.

Also, incoming call volume can be controlled just by making eye contact with the phone.

The improved version of Multi Screen Collaboration supports up to three concurrently active apps, and users can flip between screens to access different apps. So now they can watch their favourite videos while replying to messages at the same time.

Other than the Huawei Mate40 Series, there are a series of Huawei product launches in Malaysia, namely Huawei Y7a, Gentle Monster Eyewear ll, Freebuds Pro, WATCH GT2 Pro, MateBook 14 and MatePad T10s.

By far, the Huawei Y7a is the only smartphone in the market now that supports 22.5W Supercharge at the price of RM799 only; on sale now at the Huawei Store and Huawei Experience Store nationwide.
