Samsung is set to reveal five new devices at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on Aug 5, which will be held in South Korea.

“In the Next Normal, you will be empowered to live life to the fullest with these devices in your hand (and in your ears, and on your wrist),” Samsung Electronics president and head of mobile communications business Dr TM Roh hinted on what users can expect the Unpacked event in a recent blog post on the Samsung website.

According to CNET, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 20 at the event, with a potential line-up of three Note variants – potentially called the Note 20, Note 20+ and Note 20 Ultra – instead of two models, like last year’s Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+.

The South Korean tech giant is also expected to reveal its second-generation hybrid foldable tablet-smartphone Galaxy Fold device, which could be called the Galaxy Fold 2 or Galaxy Z Fold 2, at the event. The device will likely come in a new gold variant along with some upgraded camera features, according to a separate report by The Verge.

CNET added that the company is also working on a new smartwatch, tablet and earbuds.

Some leaksters have suggested that Samsung’s upcoming earbuds may be called the Galaxy Buds Live which will be available in three colours namely Mystic Bronze, Mystic Black and Mystic White.

Sam Mobile reported that the tablet will likely be the Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+, the latter of which may come with a 5G connection. The website further stated that the devices would feature 11in and 12.4in displays respectively, with the Tab S7+’s Amoled display said to boast a screen resolution of 2,800 by 1,752 pixels.

Meanwhile, website Android Police speculated that Samsung may also unveil the Galaxy Watch 3 with heart rate monitor and “support for blood pressure monitoring” at the Unpacked event.

Whatever the devices may be, Roh in his blog posting said they are designed and developed with the goal to help users take on the new normal during the Covid-19 pandemic. He described mobile devices as “a true lifeline” in helping people stay connected and work from home.

“In the last six months, we’ve super-charged our product line and invested heavily in R&D. We’ve deployed new solutions in record time, to do everything from improving video-chat technology to helping frontline workers stay safe on the job.”

He also said that Samsung will roll out a wider range of Galaxy 5G devices in more markets.

The Galaxy Unpacked event on Aug 5 will come with a live broadcast from South Korea and Roh said it will be an “exciting virtual experience”. More details will be unveiled later.
