Celcom XP Lite postpaid plan users can now get unlimited YouTube if they purchase an L or M Internet pass.

The XP Lite plan, which is priced at RM28 per month, comes with 1GB Internet data and unlimited calls to all networks (for domestic usage only).

Users can choose to purchase an M Pass, which comes with 7GB Internet data and unlimited YouTube which an FAQ stated is “recommended for standard definition (SD) 480p video”, for an additional monthly fee of RM10.

For more Internet data, users can opt for the RM30 per month L Pass, which comes with 15GB data and unlimited YouTube recommended for high definition 720p videos. The FAQ also noted that tethering is not allowed for the free YouTube quota.

Celcom told LifestyleTech that users on the M or L pass can still opt for higher viewing resolutions on YouTube and it would not take up any of their existing Internet quota.

However, the videos may take longer to load, resulting in a less-than-ideal viewing experience.

When users have fully utilised their Internet data within the billing cycle, they can still “enjoy Internet access at 64kpbs (kilobits per second) up to 15GB”, according to the FAQ.

Both the L and M passes run on an auto-renewal basis. Users can login to the Celcom App or dial *118# to make changes.

In addition, if users stay on with the M or L pass for six months consecutively, they will receive a free Ultra Hour Pass which provides free one-hour unlimted Internet every day from the seventh month onwards, according to a press statement.

Users should note that if they upgrade from the cheaper M Pass to L Pass, the six-months duration or wait for the Ultra Hour Pass will restart and they will then have to subscribe to the new pass consecutively for six months to get the Ultra Pass bonus.

Existing XP Lite users with L or M passes will automatically enjoy the new unlimited YouTube feature on their next billing cycle.

New users can also get a free device if they sign up for a 24-month XP Lite plan with the L pass.
