With video gaming and esports one of the most ready-made transitions for sports fans during the coronavirus-induced shutdown, projections for industry-wide revenue are up. Way up.

According to a recent report by Newzoo senior market analyst Tom Wijman, the global gaming market will generate US$159.3bil (RM690.17bil) in revenue in 2020. That would be 9.3% year-over-year growth. What's more, Newzoo projects the industry to surpass US$200bil (RM866.5bil) in revenue in 2023.
