Pokémon Go is in the mood for love this Valentine’s Day, celebrating with more cute, pink-coloured creatures and even thematic wardrobe.

Game maker Niantic says it will debut two new monsters: the Hearing Pokémon Audino and the Caring Pokémon Alomomola, plus introducing a new colour scheme for crowd favourite Chansey.

During the event, which runs until 10pm on Feb 17, players will get a double candy bonus for catching any Pokémon, while lure modules will last for six hours instead of the usual 30 minutes.

Pink coloured Pokémon will also appear more frequently in the wild and raids, as well as hatch from eggs.

The augmented reality (AR) game encourages users to walk by rewarding them with rare Pokémon that hatch from eggs, which require players to cover a certain distance on foot.

Players can also get dressed for the occasion by getting their Valentine’s Day themed outfits modeled after heart-shaped Pokémo Luvdisc.

While Valentine’s might be for couples, Niantic is encouraging friends to get together the day after to raid together.

From 2pm-5pm on Feb 15, players will be given five raid passes and a chance to battle Licking Pokémon, Lickitung, who will have a special attack, Body Slam.

“You can receive up to five Raid Passes at no cost during the event by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms. You cannot hold more than one of these Raid Passes at once, and they will not be available after the event ends. Lucky Trainers might encounter Shiny Lickitung, ” explains Niantic.

Meanwhile, Niantic’s other AR exploration game, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, also has a themed event called Lost Love, which happens in two parts.

“As Valentine’s Day approaches, romance has begun to fill the air! While witches and wizards have their minds on relationships, the Calamity appears to be responding by manifesting memories of loves lost. Send back these reminders of heartbreak and return a bit of romance to the wizarding world,” it says.

Part 1 of the Lost Love event runs until Feb 20, while Part 2 is on from Feb 25 to March 3.

During the event, users will have to solve various puzzles to win rewards, which must be completed during the event time.
