A Los Angeles jury on Jan 29 ordered Apple and Broadcom to pay US$1.1bil (RM4.5bil) to the California Institute of Technology for infringing on four WiFi technology patents. — AFP Relaxnews

Apple Inc and Broadcom Inc must pay US$1.1bil (RM4.5bil) in damages for infringing California Institute of Technology patents on WiFi technology, a jury in California ordered.

Apple was ordered to pay US$837.8mil (RM3.42bil) while Broadcom was hit with a US$270.2mil (RM1.11bil) verdict, according to lawyers for CalTech. The school sued the technology companies over a range of patents related to wireless data transmissions.
