Netflix is rolling out an upgrade to its Smart Downloads feature, which will recommend new shows for users to download based on their viewing habits.

Android Police reports that the new 'Downloads For You' feature expands on the existing system, but now automatically downloads shows users have not watched before that are similar to previous shows watched.

The amount of content to be downloaded is set at 1GB, but users can change the limit.

The current Smart Download, which is for Netflix mobile users, only downloads episodes of series that users are already watching.

Doing this makes the viewing experience smoother by eliminating buffering, and also data consumption as it downloads over WiFi and can be watched on mobile devices on the move.

The Downloads For You feature is tucked in the Smart Downloads and once turned on, will start downloading relevant info.

The show cards – which give brief descriptions, genre and category information – will also become bigger and easier to read.

The update also adds more settings to the Smart Downloads feature, including allowing users to decide how much storage space to fill with downloaded content, not just for the primary user but for their sub accounts too.

The feature hasn’t been rolled out to the wider user base, with Android Police suggesting that it could still be in Beta or on limited release for the latest update of the app.
