Xiaomi introduces its Redmi Note 8 Pro, the first 64-megapixel camera smartphone to hit Malaysia.
Not only that, Malaysia is also the first country in South-East Asia to launch the smartphone, which has a 6.53in full HD+ (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) display, and a screen-to-body ratio of 84.9%.
Both the rear and the display are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
With a MediaTek G90T 2.05GHz octa-core processor, the device runs on Android 9, and is powered by a 4,500mAH battery with 18-watt fast charging. It uses a LiquidCool sysem which reportedly can cool the device fast, allowing users to play games for extended period without having to worry about overheating the battery.
The selling point of this smartphone is definitely the main camera which has a wide-angle lens with f/1.9 aperture. It also comes with image stabilisation for sharper images even with shaky hands.Completing the quad camera setup on the back are the 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture for those landscape and cityscape images; a 2-megapixel dedicated macro camera for close ups; and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for bokeh effects.
Also on the back is a fingerprint sensor, just below the camera line-up.
There is also a 20-megapixel camera, within the dewdrop notch, on the front for selfie fans. The notch can be hidden by users under settings but at the cost of losing a little screen space.
The device comes with 6GB RAM and in two storage options – 64GB and 128GB with a microSD slot that supports up to 256GB space.
Audio wise, there is a single downward firing speaker with a dedicated microphone, but more importantly the device sports a 3.5mm headphone jack.
